Story: Eisenheim (Norton) is a very skilled illusionist. At a young age he falls in love with the Duchess von Teschen, Sofie (Biel). Unfortunately it is a forbidden love and Eisenheim and Sofie gets seperated. But later, when they're both grown-ups, they meet again under one of Eisenheims many performances. Once again their love blossoms. But Sofie is about to get engaged to the Crown Prince. Eisenheim then try to use his abilities to secure a future with Sofie.
